GO RUNNERS!!
We woke up at 6 a.m. and headed out to Holmes Community College to cheer for the half marathon runners. We all dressed in purple and cheered at the Team in Training tent! We were trying to win $1,000 for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. It was nice cheering and not running!! :)

Water park
I took one full day off between UMC and my new job. So Renee and I took the kids to this water park in Pelahatchie. It's only 30 minutes away and it's great. You can rent a cabin out there and stay for the weekend. We had a great time. Let me explain the photo of Renee - she told me I could only get a photo of her from the neck up.... whatever skinny girl! We did have a blast!! I totally recommend it.. it's the Yogi Bear water park!
It's just a sick spleen!!
Okay so everybody who reads this blog - you have to know Courtney - well, she gave us quite a scare. A couple of weeks ago she had all these bruises popping up all over her body. So she went to the doc and they took some blood samples - well, she ended up having this crazy unknown auto immune disease that was eating up her platelets - and they had to take all these tests (that is why she couldn't come to the party) - anyway, she is on some medication that has brought her platelet count
up. It was not cancer - THANK GOD! And they said if the disease comes back (it's 50/50 chance that it could come back) then they would have to remove her spleen - of course, we don't want them to remove her spleen but we were all just thankful it wasn't anything else. Anyway, Mary Helen decided to get some of the girls together for a "Thank God, it's just a sick spleen" party. We went to Amerigo Sunday night - such a good time. And we all decided that we were just going to start having parties every few weeks - - it can be anything - just an excuse to get together - and Courtney came up with a great one ... "Whew - the E.P.T. test is negative..." party!! HAHAHA!! I couldn't stop laughing at that one!!
WoWee
This is a close up of the wowee kapowee that Jim Albritton made for me. I have to say it was one of the sweetest things anybody has ever done for me. I love it and I can't wait to hang it in my new office! For those of you who are wondering what the bulletin board is - I have had to put together that bulletin board for the past four years in our weekly publications - yes, one of the many glamorous tasks of the job - so read it - it's hilarious - and if you are interested in getting Jim to make you one - he has a new web site that I'll plug - http://woweephotos.com/
BYE BYE BYE
As many of you know last week was my last week at UMC. I have worked there for four years and it really has been quite an experience. I worked at the Northside Sun for 7 years and I never believed I could truly find another work environment where I would find so many friends like I had at the Sun. Well, when I started at UMC and met Patrice and Dorothy - I was mistaken. I found some of the greatest friends and I can not tell you how much they mean to me. Patrice and Dorothy got a little party together for me at Sal and Mookies last Wednesday for lunch. They surprised me and invited my Mom and Trey and Renee and Courtney( she couldn't be there but she had a really good excuse (explain later). Anyway, I got there and it was such a great time. They gave me a snapfish mug with all my favorite photos on it, some gumballs - I always took some off Bruce's desk) and a pretty little pencil and paper for my new desk at my new office. But best of all - Jim made me a woweekapowee - it's his creation and he sells them but he made one for me and I have never been more touched. I am truly going to miss these people - they have become like a family and saying goodbyes is never easy to do. I'm so grateful to my sweet friends at UMC - but don't worry - I will see them all the time b/c my new job isn't too far away!!

Another bday - Happy Birthday Bob!
Happy Birthday Bob! Yes two bday parties in a day! Bekah was so excited about her friend Bob's bday party so we went to Bob's bowling party at Fannin Lanes. Nate really liked to bowl. He thought it was so much fun!! I constantly had to watch his little fingers so they wouldn't get smashed - he kept wanting to pick up a heavy bowling ball. Bekah loved bowling too! She was pretty good at it.
