Meet Curtis
The Elf on the Shelf
Bekah named her Elf - Curtis (an unusal name for an Elf.. but who am I to judge - the man that has mowed our yard for years is named Curtis.)
Anyway, I don't know if y'all know about the Elf on the Shelf. But it is mighty cute. Courtney told me about it - thanks Court! It's a great concept. We got ours at Inside Story in Madison.
The elf's responsibility is to watch a child's behavior and report it to "Santa" each night. The next morning, the child will discover the elf has returned from the "North Pole" and is hiding in a different place. The child is not allowed to touch the elf but can talk to him. The child also gives the elf a name - in our case - Curtis.
Isn't this a great idea?! Get your Elf on the Shelf HERE. It comes with a cute book that you can read to your children to explain the Elf!! SO CUTE!

It went by too fast!
It was a wonderful holiday and it was well worth the drive! It was honestly one of the most beautiful places I've ever been! JJ and Becca really went all out to make sure everyone was well taken care of! We really appreciate EVERYTHING!! The kids absolutely loved seeing everybody!! We hated to leave! Of course, on the way home, we couldn't resist taking a photo of this!!
WAR EAGLE
Meet Mailbox
By the way... this is Mailbox - our nephew.
We love Mailbox - sweet dog. But he never stood still long enough for me to get a really good photo. This was it. The other little dog is Clemson. That is JJ's boss' dog - he was taking care of Clemson while her owners were away. Mailbox was named because he was found at the mailbox.. clever, uh? Mailbox really liked Nate b/c he was at his level and he could snatch his food away! He might have gotten in trouble a couple of times for that!!
Saturday - our last day - :(
Saturday we just relaxed around the camp - Trey went fishing and caught a big fish!! How about that? Bekah loved sitting on the lifeguard chair watching her daddy fish. Nate and I were way too cold to sit outside. We headed back inside after a few minutes. It was so beautiful in North Carolina. I actually went running Saturday morning (I was supposed to run 16 - but I could only do 12. It was just soooo hilly!) But on my run, I actually saw several deer. It was the perfect fall retreat!!
Children's Museum
Friday afternoon, Becca's mom, dad, sister, aunt and uncle drove to Greensboro from Raleigh to meet everyone. We all went to the Children's Museum and the kids had a blast. Becca's aunt and uncle flew in from New York to spend the holidays in Raleigh. Her sister, Rachel, flew in from Boston. She is about to graduate from Harvard law school in May - impressive! The kids loved all of them. And that Children's Museum is awesome! I can't wait til they build one here! Bekah found a rock wall she could climb. She did a lot better than we did!! It was a great day!
That stinking wall!
Trey and I attempted to climb this wall. It was so much harder than I thought it was going to be. I came so close to making it to the top but I just couldn't do it. I was so disappointed. I came so close I just couldn't hold on anymore! So disappointed!! Oh well, next time for sure! Trey almost did it too! Oh well - at least we tried!! That says something, right?? The kids enjoyed watching us though! Bekah was a great cheerleader!
