Happy

Those of you who know us know that our dogs are like our children. Happy is our first born. We got her from a no-kill shelter the week before Trey and I got married in May 2001. The other night I felt a lump in her throat and I just knew something wasn't right. We took her to the vet today and they called us and told us that Happy had lymphoma that had spread throughout her body. She was breathing very hard last night and didn't get a wink of sleep. This is because the lymphoma in her chest is blocking her breathing. The vet told us that chemo would only give her a month or so at the most. We are heartbroken. It helps to talk about it so I wanted to post some photos of her throughout the years. She is coming home today and we are going to make her as comfortable as we can. Right now she is not in any real pain. We are going to give her medicine to help her breathe better. What an awesome dog Happy has been. When we first got her, Trey had a feather comforter and on the first night she spent the nite with Trey, he woke up in the middle of the night with something in his mouth. He glanced around his room and it looked as if it had been snowing. His room was covered with feathers. Happy had chewed up his comforter. He was so mad. But Happy grew on him! Happy has been the best dog with Bekah and Nate. She lets Bekah hug on her. She licks them all over the face. She also helped me train for the marathon back in 2001. She ran up to 13 miles with me. And one of the greatest things about Happy is that she has always let me dress her up for the Christmas card. Not everyone can say that about their dogs! Keep Happy in your prayers but most of all, keep us in our prayers as I try to explain to Bekah exactly what is going on.
