Saturday morning

We got up Sat. morning and dressed up the kids so we could go meet Big Dad at Vestavia Hills Country Club. They had a "bunny buffet" and an egg hunt so we had to participate! It really started out to be a wonderful day.

Friday nite

Friday night we went over to Big Dad's. Susie and Big Dad made us dinner. It was great! Then Big Dad surprised all of us with some bunny ears! Bekah loved it. Nate was not feeling good and he just wanted him momma to hold him all night! Poor baby. But it was still a great night - we watched basketball and stayed out really late! We were exhausted Sat. morning!
Look at this photo of the Woodruff boys - I thought that was a cute one!

A beautiful day at the park...

It was such a beautiful day in B'ham on Friday! We decided we'd go to this great park in Homewood. It was AWESOME! We called Billy and Fran (Trey's aunt and uncle) to come hang out with us! We took Lulu to B'ham with us and she had a great time! She was getting loads of attention! It was so much fun! The park was so fun. The one of Nate holding Lulu is one of my favorite photos. And who is this Bekah who has no fear?? I couldn't believe when I turned around and there was Bekah on top of that jungle gym.

Pizza

We met Big Dad and Susie at this pizza place in Mountain Brook for lunch on Friday. It was a late late lunch so nobody was there. We had the restaurant to ourselves! That was great considering we didn't know how Nate was going to be... He just wasn't feeling good this weekend.

Friday morning

We got to B'ham late Thursday night. Grammy was still out of town but she let us all stay at the house. We were so happy when we woke up the next morning to see Becca and JJ!

Please pray for Becca and her family

Before I post any photos of the weekend, I want to first tell you about our dear, sweet Becca. Becca came in to our lives a little over 2 years ago and we are so happy that she and JJ will be married soon. This weekend, we went to B'ham. We were so excited to see JJ and Becca this weekend and we were having such a great time. But on Saturday, Becca got a phone call that I have to say was one of the saddest moments I have ever witnessed in someone's life. I want to say that I am posting this because I know that Becca and her family need our prayers right now. Her father died Saturday of a heart attack. My heart is broken for Becca. She is such a sweet, dear friend and we are so lucky to have her in our lives. Whenever anything happens to someone you love, you want to do and say anything you can to make them feel better- but in this case -there are no words. I am so sorry for Becca's loss. This is such a tragedy and I want everyone to pray for her and her family. She lives in Raleigh, North Carolina. I am so sorry Becca. We love you so much!

My sweet girl!

This is really one of my favorite photos! Jay, the UMC photographer, caught this moment. Bekah was so sweet collecting money for the Children's Hospital. What a sweet girl!!

THROW ME SOME BEADS!!

I

We met up with everybody towards the end - I really think that is the best spot.. b/c usually people are trying to get rid of their beads by this point. So needless to say - we got A LOT of beads. They were all donated to Cobblestone (Bekah and Nate's school) by the way. We stayed for the whole parade - to the very end (we have never done that before) But Big Dad ate it up - all those Sweet potatoe queens loved him! We got a photo of Malcolm White - the one who started this crazy parade 26 years ago! He gave me a kiss on the cheek and a rose!! I was honored!! HAHA!! It really was loads of fun and as the kids get older - it gets better because they love it! Of course, they were a little tired and Bekah got a little red. The next day she complained that her legs were sore - poor baby!

City Sweep

So we met up with some more volunteers at the beginning of the parade. It's called the City Sweep and we collect money for Children's Hospital. For those who don't know, all proceeds from the parade go to support the Children's Hospital. Anyway, we say, "A buck for luck - support the Children's Hospital." So when someone gives us a dollar, we give them some beads. This year was the first year Bekah collected money and handed out beads. Usually she sits in the stroller. She couldn't have done a better job. She collected lots of money - I mean, who could resist this cutie pie?!?!

We were judges!

So this year I decided it would be best if Bekah and I did the parade together and Trey could wait with Nate, Big Dad and Susie close to the end of the parade. Bekah and I got there around 10:45 a.m. We were one of the judges in the Children's Parade. There were some cute floats - but the theme was kind of hard to come up with a cute Children's theme. It was the Mal-a-thon - a play off of the Ms Blues Marathon. But there were some cute kids there! We kind of missed being in the parade but I think Bekah liked judging.. she compared us to the American Idol judges but with no chairs. After the Children's parade, we met up with some other volunteers for the City Sweep. But here we are with some other friends from UMC.
