Run for Your Life

The Center of Excellence at UMMC hosted its annual 5K Run for Your Life and 1 mile fun run Saturday. Bekah told me last week she wanted to run a race so I thought this would be a fun one to do. So I asked Kelci and her friend Bailey to watch the kids while mom and I ran the 5K. Afterwards Bekah ran the 1 miler. I have to say that I was VERY proud of my baby girl. She was the youngest one out there and she ran her little heart out. I have video that I will post later. But she ran almost the whole way. She walked a little ways but she was so proud. She got a first place trophy for her age division (she was the only one in her division) She was SOOOOOOOO proud. She took it to school today to show it off. Mom also did well. She got first in her age division and I got second in my age division - obviously there weren't as many runners but we were all still proud anyway! It was a lot of fun. Nate really wanted a trophy when Bekah got hers so we were glad we won one so he could have one to play with! When she went up to get her trophy - all the people cheered so loud! It was a great time! Way to go Bekah!!

Sal and Mookies - TNT party!!

We are gearing up for another marathon with Team in Training for the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society. I am running the Nashville Country Music Marathon April 26 for TNT!! YAY! Go team! Anyway, last night we met up at Sal and Mookies. Trey was out of town but I loaded up the kids and we met everybody there. It was a nice night. We sat with Trey, Kim, Austin and Cate. We had to leave early though (another story). Oh well, before we left I got a photo of Jake Craig and his mother. Jake is one of our honored teammates. He is so cute! Look at his shirt - "Leukemia Stinks!"

Go Bekah! Pizza Inn with the Milans!

Courtney called me at 5:15 yesterday afternoon as I was picking up the kids and said, "What are y'all doing for dinner?" Because Trey is out of town - I was like, "Nothing. What do you want to do?" So we decided to go to Pizza Inn. And so glad we did b/c it was kid's eat free night! WOOHOO ... love a free meal! We had so much fun! But the kicker of the night - we couldn't believe this... Bekah asked me for a dollar to put in that machine to try and get a stuffed animal - I was like, "Sure. Go ahead." Thinking to myself - How many dollars am I going to have to give her. Well, THE FIRST TRY.. yes - by herself... She got a stuffed animal!! We really COULD NOT believe it! Courtney said the last time she went to Pizza Inn - she wasted all her dollars on that machine!! Bekah was SO PROUD! She had to call her daddy on the way home to tell him.. She named the stuffed animal "Sala." She slept with it last night and she wants to take it to school this Friday for toy day.

Heather and Jason

Heather and Jason were in town this weekend for her brother, Wes' baby shower. Wes and Linley are having a boy! I did not get any photos of the happy couple b/c we were pretty much tending to the kids the entire night. But we had a great time. Heather is my best friend from high school. They live in Houston so it is always a treat when they come in town. Bekah loves Hannah and Phillipa and we got to meet the newest addition - Drew. They all look just like their daddy! It was great catching up with them! I am afraid that these are the only photos I took from the whole weekend! What is wrong with me? I promise I'll do better. I will say that this was a beautiful, relaxing weekend. The weather was awesome!

Tornado damage

More photos

These photos are from last night at El Portillos.. Did I say we ate a lot this weekend??

Courtney and Juicy

Look how cute?? Why I didn't take more photos, I don't know??

Hamils

We went to Hamils for lunch on Saturday. I have never eaten there.. it was great! Look how tired we all were! We took Courtney and Stu on a tour of our area after lunch. You really have to see it to believe it! Let me also say a BIG thank you to Entergy. I can not believe they had our electricity back on last night. It really was unbelievable. I just knew we wouldn't have power until Tuesday at the earliest! It was such a nice surprise!

Sat. morning

We brought coffee to Mom, Earl and Kelci Sat. morning. They desperately needed some! We stayed only for a second b/c Bekah had to go to a birthday party - no, I didn't get any photos.
But Bekah and Nate wanted to help out Mumu and Earl. I'm sure if we had stayed, Earl would have put them to work!! HAHA!

Mom's backyard

What a weekend! Friday was crazy. Here are some photos I took Friday of mom and Earl's backyard. It was pretty nasty. It could have been a lot worse! They are now saying that about 5 tornados hit the metro area. We are so grateful we didn't have any damage and that we are all safe! We stayed at Courtney and Stu's all weekend - thank you thank you thank you! This is the second time they have opened their home to us - remember Katrina? If you can believe it - I didn't take a whole lot of photos of our weekend. I couldn't find my camera Friday nite and Saturday I got a few photos. We were just all in shock. But I will tell you one thing - I ate so much this weekend - I am still full!

Tornado

It doesn't look as bad in this video...

Tornado!

I just want everyone to know that our house -thank GOD- did not have any damage with the tornado that came through yesterday. Trey and I have never witnessed anything like that. We were out to lunch and decided to run by the house to pick up a water filter. When we got on our street, we heard the sirens. It was scarey quiet outside. We went inside, turned on the TV and like a second later, the electricity went out. We let the dogs in and looked outside and decided it was time to head to the bathroom. We watched in terror - I'm not kidding -as we saw trees uprooted around us and limbs falling - everything was blowing around us. All I could do is pray and hold on to Trey - it is just so weird b/c Trey and I NEVER eat lunch together! This probably lasted 3 minutes - maybe 4 - but it seemed so much longer.. after it seemed calm - we went outside and saw that our neighbors had been really hit hard. We drove down to Mom and Earl's and their front French doors were blown wide open.. their backyard is a mess. I have video. I'll post it later. We are staying at Courtney and Stu's for now - thank you thank you! We have no electricity.. and I don't know when we will get it. I thought Katrina was bad for our little street - not even close. I'm just so grateful no one was killed! At least, that is what they are saying right now! Oh and our street was in the paper this morning as one of the hardest hit! Wow - I just thought yesterday was just your normal Friday! Was I wrong or what???????-
